I do not know how to AI
Let us imagine I am some typical sales bloke. My company gives me accounts on a bunch of tools, someone senior to me has shown me how to use them, and now I have set out to book meetings and make pitches.
My tools are the usual collection of thingums:
- Dionysus, for outreach to prospective customers,
- SpokeLine, for tracking my customers and prospects,
- Baffle, for recording and summarising my meetings,
- Solo-Taurus, as a corporate LLM that keeps our data ours.
The first three have all been filling my inbox talking about their great forays into the field of AI.
They throw such great terms around like MC Pee. I do not know Mr Pee or which club I might find him MCing at. I also do not know how I can make my Solo-Taurus talk with him.
I walk over to IT. I know just the guy to ask. Except he just tells me my computer needs to run Cobra in the background, how I need to add each one of the platforms into Argonauts, and then preferably switch from Solo-Taurus to Xenotropic. That last step needs approval from management. And budgeting too.
All of that is to say that I could not actually help my coworkers with their questions. Because I have no idea how any of the usual LLM providers let their average office workers add external services.
I can probably manage it myself. I can tweak my Claude settings, Claude Code lets me hook in lots of things. But I am either too stupid to figure out how this works with the average ChatGPT Desktop client, or the workflows all these companies are promising just do not exist.
There is always shadow AI, I guess.
